Shaana Daley’s inspiring journey – supporting youth in Warren

Shaana, Wellness Worker Learner, recently worked with the Western NSW Primary Health Network (PHN) to create a short video showing firsthand how she’s helping youth in the Warren community.

In this video, Shaana shares how she’s offering crucial, culturally safe mental health support to the youth in Warren.

Shaana was able to complete her Certificate IV in Mental Health earlier this year as a Trainee of the Aboriginal Workforce Development Initiative. Now, she’s using her skills at the Warren Youth Centre and Community Hub, helping young people to better understand mental health and get the support they need.

Shaana’s work includes running mental health programs and support sessions at the Centre, where she sees firsthand the positive impact on the youth.

“In the middle of last year, we ran a mental health sports program where we played different sports with the kids every week. And at the end, we had a yarn about different mental health issues and how to get the help and who to talk to.”

“If I can help one kid, that’s enough for me,” she says.
