Support Youth in YOUR Community! We’re on the lookout for a Mental Health Clinician to join our awesome team as a Youth Mental Health Worker in the Youth Plus Program. This part-time role (37.5 hours a fortnight) is based at our headspace centre in Lithgow, NSW (Wiradjuri Country).

As a Youth Mental Health Worker, you’ll be doing incredible work by:

  • Enhancing assessments: Building on triage and engagement info with Psychosocial Assessments, Mental State Examinations (MSEs), and Risk Assessments, and where needed, developing safety plans following Marathon Health’s guidelines.
  • Engaging and empowering: Successfully connect with and treat young people who are developing (or at risk of developing) more complex mental health concerns, offering tailored, evidence-based psychological and social interventions.
  • Collaboration: Team up with clients, carers, and headspace crew to assess and coordinate care and services (including referrals) to meet each young person’s unique needs.
  • Holistic care: Work hand-in-hand with colleagues to provide the best care possible, participating in case meetings and clinical reviews to ensure well-rounded support.
  • Empowerment: Support young people in making informed decisions about their own care and foster Family Inclusive and Evidence-Informed Practices.
  • Cultural inclusivity: Promote sociocultural inclusiveness and youth participation, aligning with our Cultural Safety Framework and Diversity & Inclusion Statement.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Tertiary Qualifications in Psychology, Social Work, or a related allied health discipline recognised in the tertiary mental health sector.
  • Current registration with AHPRA or full membership with AASW.
  • Experience working with young people dealing with severe or complex mental health needs, including assessment, crisis intervention, and evidence-based interventions.
  • Highly developed interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills, including proficiency in client management systems and electronic health records.
  • Excellent time management and organisational skills.
