A cyber security update - headspace Queanbeyan

At Marathon Health, keeping your personal information safe and secure is our priority.

We are aware of a data security breach on three staff email accounts in our headspace Queanbeyan centre, for which Marathon Health is the lead agency. The breach occurred in late December 2024 and resulted in the unauthorised access of sensitive and confidential information. We take the privacy and the protection of client and staff information very seriously and we sincerely regret that this has happened.

headspace Queanbeyan client record systems that hold medical histories, documentation or financial information, have not been compromised and remain secure.

The data accessed contains identifying information that may have included:

• New staff employment and students’ information
• Contact details and reason for referral for clients enrolling in headspace Queanbeyan
• Health or other sensitive information

What we are doing to address this incident

Following identification of the breach, steps were taken immediately to secure the compromised accounts, and an investigation was completed to understand the extent of the impact. Since then, we have implemented everything practicable to prevent this type of breach occurring again.

The Federal Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) were quickly notified and are satisfied with our response and the actions taken. We are contacting those impacted by this breach directly.
