Marathon Health welcomes new Board Chair

Rural health charity, Marathon Health is pleased to announce the appointment of Amanda Croft as the new Chair of the Board following its recent Annual General Meeting.

Amanda is the Executive Director, Office of the Provost and Deputy Vice-Chancellor at the University of Sydney and brings to the role more than 20 years’ experience in accounting and agri-finance.

Incoming Chair, Ms Croft said that having grown up in rural NSW, she is no stranger to the challenges rural Australians face in accessing healthcare, close to home.

“I am truly honoured to take on the role of Marathon Health Chair and am committed to supporting Marathon Health to achieve its vision of empowering communities to thrive through equitable health and wellbeing.”

Ms Croft thanked former Chair, Annette Crothers for her strong leadership and commitment over the last six years and is excited to continue to work alongside Annette as she continues as a Non-Executive Director on the Marathon Health Board.

“During her six years as Chair, Annette was instrumental in steering the organisation through a period of significant growth and transformation, including successful development and delivery of the organisation’s first-ever strategic plan.” Ms Croft said. “Marathon Health’s recent recognition as Outstanding Community Organisation at the 2024 Business NSW State Awards was a fitting acknowledgement of her time as Chair.”

“Annette has set a remarkable foundation, and I am excited to build on that legacy as we embark on our next phase of growth and work towards an impactful future for our organisation and the communities we serve,” said Ms Croft.

Marathon Health CEO, Megan Callinan joined Ms Croft in acknowledging Ms Crothers’ time as Chair.

“Annette’s leadership has been nothing short of transformative for our organisation,” Ms Callinan said. “Her dedication, vision, and passion for the health and wellbeing of our communities has helped shape Marathon Health into the thriving organisation it is today.”

At the AGM, Marathon Health also welcomed health and social sector leader, Mia Bromley as a Non-Executive Director of the Board. Mia will join existing Board members Amanda Croft, Annette Crothers, Troy Pietsch, Jeff Whitton and Megan Callinan.

“We are thrilled to welcome Mia to the Board – her expertise, fresh perspective, and commitment to health and social equity will be a tremendous asset as we continue our work to improve access to health and wellbeing services for communities across our footprint,” Ms Croft said.

“Mia brings expertise in health and social policy and her experience in operational and strategic roles across government, not-for-profit, and private sectors will be invaluable in driving the continued success and impact of Marathon Health.”

Ms Callinan, who was appointed to the Board in November last year, was also elected as Executive Director at the AGM.

“These leadership changes come at a pivotal time for Marathon Health, as we begin implementation of our new strategic plan and prepare to launch a bold and ambitious roadmap for the future,” Ms Callinan said.

“With the support of an experienced and dedicated Board, Marathon Health is well-positioned to build on its achievements – focusing on improving equitable access to health and wellbeing services for communities across regional and rural NSW.”
