12th July 2017 – This week is National Diabetes Week and with the prevalence of Type 2 Diabetes on the rise, particularly in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, Marathon Health is organising a healthy morning tea and free Diabetes risk assessment at the Kelso Indigenous Chronic Disease Clinic this Thursday.

“The theme for this year’s National Diabetes Week is, ‘It’s About Time', which is all about raising awareness of Type 2 Diabetes which can develop over a long period of time with no obvious symptoms. Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people are almost 4 times more likely than non-indigenous Australians to have diabetes,” comments Anna Blackie, Marathon Health Diabetes Educator.
